Is Drew Brees’ latest culinary creation a touchdown or a fumble?
Wednesday on Instagram, the New Orleans Saints quarterback showed off his dinner comprising red beans and rice cooked separately in skillets.
The dish, commonly found in Louisiana, is traditionally made on Mondays with leftovers from Sunday dinner.
“It’s not Monday, but there’s never a bad night for some red beans n rice!” the NFL player wrote.
After the football star’s photo went viral, the Internet couldn’t hold back their thoughts.
Some Instagram users applauded Brees’ kitchen skills, including the sole bay leaf in the red beans.
“Goated at everything,” one IG user wrote.
“U know u rich rich when u start putting LEAVES in your food,” another added.
However, some were not impressed by the athlete’s culinary prowess.
“I had to take a sip of water just looking at these,” one commenter wrote.
“You been down here all these years and still don’t know how to cook red beans,” an IG user commented.
“U need some pickle meat, season ham and a lil water to them beans lol,” another recommended.
Recently, Brees has been showing off his recipes, including breakfast burritos with eggs, bacon, and sausage, lentil soup, and avocado rolls.
Of course, the QB has long been vocal about his foodie ways.
In a 2012 interview with Men’s Journal, Brees listed the spots where he likes to take wife Brittany on date nights.
“Friday night is date night for me and my wife,” he said, “and we have our spots.”
Among the restaurants are Ye Old College Inn, Mr. John’s Steakhouse, and Drago’s Seafood Restaurant.
