Tiffany Haddish Rejected Common Multiple Times Before They Got Together!

Tiffany Haddish reveals she initially turned down Common when he first asked her out.

On a recent episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” host Stephen Colbert asked the “Girls Trip” star why she previously rejected her now-boyfriend’s advances.

Tiffany and Common reportedly met at an Oscars event and then starred in the 2019 film “The Kitchen.”

“I was waiting for you, Steve. I was waiting for you to get single,” Tiffany joked about the married host.

“He was trying to holler, and I was like, ‘No, I’m not really interested. Nah, I’m good. My eyes are set on other things. I’m interested in somebody else, I’m sorry. But you seem like a nice person.’”

Though she didn’t tell him this, the comedian knew “too many people that [he] dated.”

In a November 2020 interview with “The Karen Hunter Show” for SiriusXM, Common also confirmed Haddish initially turned him down, explaining that she wanted to keep things friendly.

“That time I was definitely like, ‘Hey, what’s up? How you doing?’ And she was like, ‘Nah, we good, we friends,’” he recounted.

After becoming friends, they decided to hang out in New York City “and we felt that our friendship could go somewhere else.”

“So that’s what happened,” the rapper said.

Recently, the two went viral after they sensually kissed in a video as part of the “Silhouette Challenge.”

However, Tiffany revealed to Stephen that “it was quite a negotiation” to have him participate in the clip.

“I’m like, ‘Look, I want to shoot this video. I need you to be in it with me.’ And he was like, ‘Nah, that’s really not my style. I’m not really known for that. That’s not really my thing.’”

Tiffany, of course, got her way!

“I was like, ‘Look! Every time you ask me to do something, I do it, and I don’t make no money. I’m asking you to do something for me and every time I do ask you, you get paid. Now, what you gonna do today is this video or I won’t be doing nothing for you,’” she joked. “And he was like, ‘All right, all right, calm down. I’ll do it.’”

As it turns out, Common ended up becoming extremely invested in the project!

“It turned into 18 takes,” Tiffany said. “I’m like, ‘For somebody who didn’t want to do this, you now want to do another take and another take, come on bro.’ But we had a good time. We were laughing.”
