Later that day on Instagram Story, Hamlin said she received several comments where many accused her of “blackfishing,” in which non-Black individuals use hair or makeup to create the look of certain features that make them look Black or more racially ambiguous.
Hamlin suggests that many are referring to her skin color in the photos, which may appear to some as “darker than [her] own natural skin color.”
In reference to her skin color, Hamlin says she recently went on vacation to a sunny area and tans “very easily” due to her “Italian heritage.”
Despite the supposed accusations, Hamlin insists there was “no malice intention or offense” in the creation of her look.

Hamlin, 19, is currently dating 37-year-old Scott Disick. The two were first linked in October 2020 when they were spotted together at a Halloween-themed birthday bash thrown by Kendall Jenner, the younger sister of Disick's ex Kourtney Kardashian.
That December on IG Story, Hamlin appeared to defend their 18-year age gap when she slammed how “extra weird and judgemental [sic]” people can be.
“People can embrace themselves however they feel fit for them at that moment in time,” she wrote. “People grow. People learn to love themselves more and more.”
