Lance Waldroup, who appeared on six seasons of “Moonshiners” alongside his father Jeff, has passed away at age 30.
Per a GoFundMe, the Discovery personality died Thursday, February 25, 2021 at his residence in Robbinsville, North Carolina.
Earlier this month, the Facebook group for the television show released a statement on Waldroup’s passing.
“We are saddened to hear about the loss of Lance Waldroup. An adventurous distiller who was featured alongside his father throughout the early seasons of ‘Moonshiners,’ Lance was always looking to take his flavorful recipes of ‘shine to new heights,” it read.
“He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”
According to the GoFundMe, aimed at raising money for Waldroup’s funeral, Lance’s brother Lamar and sister Lyndsey suffered from cystic fibrosis and sadly passed away.
Organizer Joey Bailey says Waldroup “suffered from extreme ‘Survivor’s Guilt’” from these tragedies and “turned to drugs.”
“He was an addict for several years and then decided to turn his life around. He went to rehab and had become a recovered addict.”
Bailey says he quit “Moonshiners” to care for his mother Lynn, who had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).
“He did not want to leave her side and waited on her hand and foot,” Bailey wrote. “Lance had such a kind loving soul and was always there for others in need.”
The page also said Lance’s passing was “unexpected.”
“The Waldroup family is devastated over Lance passing,” Bailey wrote.
On the show, Waldroup distilled numerous spirits, including moonshine, absinthe, and scotch.
Per his obituary, a memorial service for Waldroup will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. until the service, which starts at 1 p.m.
Our condolences go out to Lance’s family and loved ones for their loss.
