Rihanna is standing up for social justice amid the increase in Asian hate crimes.
On Sunday, the “Work” singer attended a “Stop Asian Hate” rally in New York City with her assistant Tina Truong.
As seen on Tina’s Instagram, the musician was holding signs that read “Hate = Racism Against God” and “#StopAsianHate.”
In one video, the Barbados native was seen dancing down the street along with the other demonstrators.
In another clip, a fellow protester asks Ri for her Instagram handle — not realizing that he’s talking to Rihanna herself!
The 33-year-old has been vocal about the surge in anti-Asian violence. After the Atlanta spa shootings — in which a white man killed eight people, including six Asian women — Rihanna spoke out against the attack on social media.
“what happened yesterday in Atlanta was brutal, tragic, and is certainly not an isolated incident by any means. AAPI hate has been rampantly perpetuated and it’s disgusting!” she wrote last month.
“I’m heartbroken for the Asian community and my heart is with the loved ones of those we lost yesterday. The hate must stop. #ProtectAAPILives”
Rihanna is fighting the good fight!
