Kanye West Finally Responds to Kim Kardashian’s Divorce Filing

Nearly two months after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce, husband Kanye West has responded.

On Monday, People reported that the “Yeezus” rapper issued a legal response last Friday and is requesting joint legal and physical custody of the pair’s children: daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, 1.

The musician is also asking the court to waive its ability to award any spousal support or attorneys fees to either party.

Though he listed irreconcilable differences as their reason for divorce, a date of separation was not provided.

In mid-February, Kardashian filed for divorce from West after six years of marriage.

Similar to West’s documents, Kardashian also asked for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s kids, and did not list a date of separation.

At the time, TMZ reported that neither party is contesting the divorce, and the two are reportedly far along in reaching a property settlement agreement.

People added that the two are reportedly not contesting their prenup.

Rumors of a split between Kardashian and West first emerged in January when Page Six published a report that said “divorce is imminent” for the two.

Per an insider, West did not spend the holidays with the Kardashian family and was instead at his ranch in Wyoming.

“Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done,” an source said.

The Page Six source also claimed that Kardashian grew weary of West’s public antics.

“She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign. Meanwhile Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy ----, and she’s just had enough of it.”

A separate source said Kanye “is completely over the entire [Kardashian] family… He wants nothing to do with them,” adding that he eventually found their E! reality TV show “unbearable.”

In March, an insider told People that Kardashian does not plan on moving out of the couple’s $60 million Hidden Hills mansion.

“Kim plans on staying at the Hidden Hills house with the kids. This is their home and Kim doesn’t want to move right now at least,” a source told the magazine.

“Kanye lives elsewhere but is happy that Kim is staying at the family house,” the insider continued. “They both agree that the less stress the kids experience, the better. Kanye loves his kids. He wants them to be happy. He doesn’t want to fight with Kim about anything.”
