MTV Star Mourns Death of 8-Month-Old Daughter to Leukemia

Ashley Cain’s “heart is shattered” after the passing of his and partner Safiyya Vorajee’s daughter Azaylia Diamond to cancer.

Sunday on Instagram, the star of “The Challenge” announced the heartbreaking news that his infant child passed away that weekend. Last October, the MTV personality revealed that Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.

“Rest In Paradise Princess,” the British soccer player captioned a photo of him holding his daughter. “I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven #AzayliaDiamondCain.”

On Monday, the 30-year-old opened up about his grief, writing on his social media page, “I don’t know why you’ve been taken away from me.”

“My heart is shattered,” he captioned a photo of him embracing his little one’s hand. “You gave my life purpose, my face a smile, filled my heart with love and my soul with pride. I can’t put into words my sadness and pain, there aren’t words to describe it. I love you with every ounce of my body and I miss you so much already.”

In his emotional message, the athlete makes a promise to Azaylia that her “name will live on.”

“I will carry your name across every ocean, along every road, to the top of every mountain and across the whole globe. Your name will live, your legacy will be remembered and I will seek peace in living as your vessel to continue inspiring, giving strength, spreading joy and saving lives in your name, with your spirit, as your father until we meet again.”

Last October, when Azaylia was only two months old, Cain revealed that his daughter was “diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of [leukemia] which has come with many complications.”

“Yesterday I had to go through something no parent in the world should have to go through. The single most upsetting, terrifying and heartbreaking experience I have ever been through,” he wrote at the time.

Last Friday on Instagram, Cain said he and his family were told by medical professionals to make the most of their weekend “as Azaylia is becoming very fragile.”

After posting photos of her in a stroller, Cain said that after these pics were taken, Azaylia suffered a seizure.

“Her eyes rolled back, she stopped breathing and her body went as stiff as a board. We put her on oxygen straight away and called for the oncall nurses. After a few hours of close observation we managed to settle her. This has happened a few times now, but it never gets any easier. Yet she continues to battle through!” he wrote.

Our condolences go out to Ashley and Safiyya for their loss.
