While Usain, who retired in 2017, holds the world record for the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, he will not pressure his children to follow in his famous footsteps.
In an interview with People during Super Bowl weekend 2020, the Olympian said, “People always say, ‘Are you going to put your kids in sports?’ But for me, if they want to be in sports, fine, I don’t really care. But I won’t push them to do track and field. I think it’s going to be hard.”
The sprinter added, “I think it’s the hardest thing when you have a dad that is a superstar in a super sport; I don’t think you should do that sport. I think you should do something else because there is so much pressure on you to live up to expectations.”
In his addition to his world records, Usain is the only man to win three 100-meter Olympic titles.
Congratulations to Usain and Kasi on their new additions!
