Woman Looking for New Pet Reunites with Lost Dog!

A Pennsylvania woman looking for a new pet finds and adopts the dog she lost two years ago!
As reported by The Morning Call, Aisha Nieves of Schuylkill County was scrolling through pictures of puppies on a pet adoption website earlier this month in hopes of finding a new pet for her two sons.
In 2019, the family’s tan pitbull-rottweiler mix — named Kovu after the character in “The Lion King” — escaped from their home after a car crashed into the front gate.
Weeks later, Kovu was picked up by the Lehigh County Humane Society, renamed, and eventually adopted by a different family. Earlier this month, however, the family surrendered the dog, as they were facing possible eviction.
On the website, Nieves found a photo of a tan pit bull-rottweiler mix that looked exactly like her family’s former pet.
“I happened to be on the Lehigh County Humane Society adoption site, looking through pictures, when my phone just froze on this one picture and I just stared,” she said.
After identifying a scar on the dog’s eye, Nieves knew she found Kovu!
“I thought, ‘Wait, that can’t be him,’” she said. “Then, I saw the little scar over one eye, the scar from when he got caught in a gate, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s my baby, that’s Kovu!’
“I at first thought, ‘No way is this my dog,’“ she added. “When I was sure it was him, I got so excited I was literally shaking.”
Nieves then drove to the shelter to reunite with her furry friend!
“Then he just jumped on me and we started kissing and hugging. He sat on my lap. I told him, ‘Yeah, buddy, you’re going home. I’m so sorry this happened. Never again am I losing you.’“
Now that Kovu is back home, Nieves is looking forward to celebrating the dog’s seventh birthday on Christmas.
“Now that he’s back home, I feel whole again,” she said. “All that time he was gone, I felt like a piece of me was missing. Never did I stop thinking about him or wondering if he was being treated well wherever he was. I just wanted my baby back. And now he is.”
