Man With Machete and Bayonet Arrested Near DNC Headquarters

A California man was arrested near the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C., after authorities noticed that he had a machete and bayonet inside his truck.
Per a press release issued Monday by the U.S. Capitol Police, around midnight just outside the DNC, a Special Operation Division Officer noticed a Dodge Dakota pickup truck with a swastika and other white supremacist symbols painted on it.
The officer also noticed that the vehicle did not have a license plate, but rather a picture of the American flag where the plate should be.
After the truck was pulled over along the 500 block of South Capitol Street, the cop noticed a bayonet and machete inside the vehicle.
The officer then arrested the driver, identified as 44-year-old Donald Craighead of Oceanside, California, for possession of prohibited weapons.
Per the release, Craighead claimed he was “on patrol” and began talking about white supremacist ideology and other topics pertaining to white supremacy.
“This is an excellent example of the work our officers do every day,” Operational Services Bureau Deputy Chief Jason Bell said in a statement. “We are so proud of these officers for their vigilance.”
Per pictures posted by Capitol Police, the word “confederate” was written above the man’s dashboard, and swastikas were drawn on multiple places in the car, including on one of his side-view mirrors.
