Surprise! Uzo Aduba Got Married Last Year!

Uzo Aduba is speaking out for the first time about her marriage to Robert Sweeting!
Sunday on Instagram, the “Orange Is the New Black” alum posted a loving photo of her and her husband that appears to be from their nuptials.
In the post, the “In Treatment” star wrote the filmmaker a touching note, calling him “the best thing that ever happened to me.”
“For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone. My heart, my love — I’m so happy my life started last year with you. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me,” the actress said.

In response, our very own Loni Love wrote in the comments section, “Congratulations Just beautiful!!!”
Though many interpreted Aduba’s post as a wedding announcement, it was actually about the couple’s one-year wedding anniversary.
On Sunday, a source told People that the pair got married last year in a secret ceremony held in New York.
“They are celebrating their one-year anniversary this year,” the insider clarified.
On April 21, on what would’ve been her mother Nonyem’s birthday, Aduba shared the heartbreaking news that Nonyem passed away the previous November from cancer.
“My Mommy, the best thing that has ever happened to me. She left her earthly body this past November to be with God after a valiant and gracious fight with cancer. She was and remains my hero; I am proud to know that it’s her blood running through my veins. Today is her birthday,” she wrote alongside a beautiful picture of Nonyem.

The next month, Aduba told “People (the TV Show),” that working on “In Treatment” was “deeply healing” following her mother’s death.
“It’s never easy to lose anyone. It’s certainly not easy to hold proximity to a loss when your character is experiencing a similar loss,” she said. “I thank HBO a thousand times for giving the space that was needed to help start that process. I think that it’s challenging, but what I know is that it was also deeply healing at the same time.”
She continued, “I’m really grateful to have been working on this project when I was working on this project, because what I didn’t know was that it was helping me work through my own.”
Sending lots of love to Uzo and her family!
