Bobby Brown Disapproves of Late Wife Whitney Houston’s ‘Bodyguard’ Remake

Bobby Brown does not approve of the recently announced remake of “The Bodyguard,” a 1992 romantic drama starring his late wife Whitney Houston.
At Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, Brown spoke to a TMZ reporter who brought up the film, about a former United States Secret Service agent turned bodyguard who is hired to protect a famous actress and singer from an unknown stalker.
“Do you think that’s a bad move?” the photographer asked Brown about the remake.
In response, Brown answered, “Yeah.”
Earlier this week, Variety reported that Matthew López, the Tony-nominated playwright of “The Inheritance,” has been hired to write the new film inspired by the original.
Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote and produced the original, will produce the remake alongside Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of production company Rideback.
Additionally, Rideback’s Nick Reynolds will executive produce.
Though there are rumors that Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Channing Tatum, and Cardi B are circling the project, no cast has been set.
The original film, co-starring Kevin Costner, grossed more than $400 million at the worldwide box office and received a Best Original Song Oscar nomination for Houston’s cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Houston tragically passed away in February 2012 at the age of 48 from drowning due to coronary artery disease and cocaine intoxication.
She and Brown shared daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, who passed away from lobar pneumonia on July 26, 2015, at the age 22 after being in a coma for nearly six months.
In July 2020, Brown paid tribute to his and Houston’s daughter on the fifth anniversary of her passing.
“There's no way to explain how I feel I miss you so much little girl you stay in my heart on my mind every day daddy loves you,” he captioned a photo of Bobbi Kristina as a young girl.
