Offset & Other Celebs Help Pay for AJ Johnson’s Funeral

Numerous celebrities are coming to the aid of Anthony “AJ” Johnson’s loved ones following the actor and comedian’s tragic death.
On Sunday, AJ’s widow Lexis Jones Mason told TMZ that her husband’s funeral has been paid for after receiving $70,000 in donations.
While the outlet says Offset gave $5,000, Lil Rel Howery donated $4,000 on the Johnson family’s GoFundMe page.
Additionally, Mason says she has received calls from celebs including Fat Joe, D.L. Hughley, Faizon Love, Michael Colyar, Tommy Davidson, D.C. Young Fly, and Tyrin Turner.
Earlier this month, Mason gave a heartbreaking interview to TMZ after her family’s GoFundMe raised less than $800.
“Where’s the love? Y’all not helping,” Mason said. “We’re raising money because I have to pay for this all out of pocket. I’m asking for help. But if I don’t get it, it’s fine because I’m not leaving my husband in there. We’re gonna have a service.”
“It’s just hurtful,” she added.
Now that the service is paid for, Mason says she’s going to give some of the extra money to his children in addition to starting a stand-up comedy school for underprivileged youth.
She also wants to spread awareness for the benefits of life insurance, as AJ — known for appearing in movies such as “Friday” and “House Party” — never got a policy.
TMZ previously reported that Johnson was found lifeless in a store earlier this month in Los Angeles. Though he was rushed to a hospital, he was later pronounced dead on September 6.
Representative LyNea Bell, owner and president of BH Talent, later confirmed AJ’s passing in an emotional statement.
“The world of comedy has truly been shaken, again. Our BH Talent family is heartbroken about the loss of the iconic legend of stage and screen Mr. Anthony ‘AJ’ Johnson. He has left with us amazing memories of his laughter, dynamic acting skills, but most of all his enormous personality and heart of gold,” Bell said.
“We will be in constant prayer for his entire family including his wife Lexis, 3 children, brother Edward “Peanut” Smith, sister Sheila, and lifetime manager and friend Mike D. Please give them the time they need to process and grieve such a huge loss.”
He will be missed.
