Chrissy Teigen Pays Tribute to Late Son Jack on 1-Year Anniversary of Pregnancy Loss

Chrissy Teigen has written an emotional message on the one-year anniversary of her pregnancy loss.
Tuesday on Instagram, the “Chrissy’s Court” star posted a throwback photo of herself and her husband John Legend taken right after they found out that they had lost their unborn son, who they were going to name Jack.
In her caption, the model says her miscarriage brought her “the greatest pain I could ever imagine,” though it also taught her that she “could survive anything.”
“A year ago, you gave me the greatest pain I could ever imagine to show me I could survive anything, even if I didn’t want to,” she wrote. “I didn’t get to take care of you but you came and went to get me to love myself and take care of myself because our bodies are precious and life is a miracle.”
While admitting that she is still suffering from the emotional event, Chrissy concluded her note, “Mom and dad love you forever.”

Last September, Chrissy revealed her loss, which occurred after she had been hospitalized for excessive bleeding from her placenta.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn't enough,” she wrote on Instagram.
Though she says she and John “never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment,” the two “had started to call this little guy” Jack while in utero.
“So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”

A month later in October, Teigen opened up about her miscarriage in a candid essay for Medium.
While revealing that doctors had diagnosed her with partial placenta abruption, she explained, “I had always had placenta problems. I had to deliver [son Miles Theodore, now 3] a month early because his stomach wasn't getting enough food from my placenta. But this was my first abruption.”
Though she had received blood transfusions, “Every single one [was] going right through me like we hadn't done anything at all.”
Eventually, her doctor told her it was “time to say goodbye.”
“He just wouldn't survive this, and if it went on any longer, I might not either,” she added.
That same month, Chrissy showed off a tattoo of Jack’s name inked on her wrist.

Teigen's “Jack” ink is located just above another tattoo, “John — Luna — Miles,” honoring her husband and their two children together, including daughter Luna Simone, now 5.
