Man Arrested After Opening Plane’s Emergency Door on Miami Flight

An American Airlines passenger was arrested after authorities say he opened the plane’s emergency exit and walked on the wing after touchdown in Miami.
As reported by CBS Miami, the incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after the flight from Cali, Colombia, had just arrived at Miami International Airport.
Following the event, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents apprehended the man, later identified by police as 33-year-old Christian Segura.
Fortunately, the other passengers were able to deplane the aircraft without incident.
Per LocalNews10, Segura was later transferred to the custody of the Miami-Dade Police Department. Per police, Segura told officers that he was not feeling well, and he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s emergency room after paramedics determined he had high blood pressure.
The outlet adds that Segura will be booked into jail once released from the hospital.
In a statement provided to outlets including People, American Airlines said, “During deplaning in Miami, a customer on American Airlines flight 920 with service from Cali, Colombia (CLO) to MIA exited the aircraft via an emergency exit. The customer was immediately detained by law enforcement. We thank our team members and law enforcement for their professionalism and quick action.”
It is unclear whether Segura will face any charges.
