Wendy Williams Dealing With ‘Ongoing Medical Issues’ After Breakthrough COVID Case

Wendy Williams is focusing on her health after testing positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
In a statement released Thursday on Instagram, it was revealed that the daytime talk show host is “still dealing with some ongoing medical issues” and is “under a doctor’s care.”
Because of this, the radio personality is “still not ready to return to work.” Instead of premiering on October 4, Season 13 of Wendy’s talk show has been scheduled for October 18.
Fortunately, the statement confirmed that Williams has tested negative for COVID-19 after it was announced September 15 that she had contracted a breakthrough case.

In the past, Williams has been open about her various ailments.
Last May, she took time off due to her Graves’ disease, an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of thyroid hormones, which she went public with in 2018.
In the summer of 2019, Williams opened up about her lymphedema — which causes swelling due to buildup of lymph fluid in the body — after paparazzi took photos of her swollen ankles.
“Lymphedema, by the way, I’ve been diagnosed,” she said at the time. “It’s not going to kill me, but I do have a machine — and how dare you talk about the swelling of it all. It’s lymphedema. I’ve got it under control.”
In March of this year, Williams admitted on her show that she “can’t even walk two city blocks” because of her condition.
“Do you see my feet? Do you see how they barely fit in my shoes even? I have lymphedema. I’ve had it now for a few years,” she said after asking producers for a close-up of her feet.
“[My feet] are discolored. They’re hardened. I can’t wear boots. I can’t believe in our comment section people say, ‘Why does she walk like that?’… Well, if you see me in an airport, you’ll be like, ‘Is that Wendy in a wheelchair?’ Yup. I can’t even walk two city blocks. You know you got the numbness and whatnot. It’s not curable.”
Wishing Wendy a speedy recovery.
