Keyshia Cole’s Mom’s Cause of Death Revealed

Frankie Lons’ official cause of death has been revealed.
Over the weekend, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office told TMZ that Keyshia Cole’s biological mother passed away on her 61st birthday in July from an accidental overdose. The cause of Frankie’s death was determined during her autopsy.
At the time of her death, Keyshia’s brother Sam told the outlet that their mother overdosed at her Oakland home when she allegedly took drugs while celebrating her birthday.
After the reported event, Keyshia’s sister Elite posted on IG Story, “Worse pain ever… To see my mama in a body bag on her birthday! My heart so ------ broke.”
Days afterward, Keyshia broke her silence while posting touching pictures of her and her mom on Instagram.
“This is so hard man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel. You can never prepare for something like this,” the “Love” singer wrote.
In her post, Keyshia remembered Frankie for her great sense of humor, and for her quotable phrases.
“For weeks I’ve been quoting you, from the goose that laid the golden egg, to calling Neffe shoes slow burners, cause they were bought scuffed up already. Your humor was unmatched!!! Naturally so funny, that’s what I loved about your personality.... we all did.”
While thanking fans for their support, Keyshia recognized the love that Frankie had for her children.
“The love for all your children was definitely felt. When u said all you want is to have ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN IN ONE PLACE, AT ONE TIME meant the most to you, And I’m completely down to do that for you. Even through our differences .... WE LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Frank da bank!”
Keyshia has been open about her mother’s addiction struggles, and in March of last year, she announced that Frankie was 60 days sober.
“Frank Da Bank 60 Days sober looking aaaah,” the musician wrote on IG Story at the time. “QUEENS SUPPORTING QUEENS.”
That January, Keyshia revealed that Frankie voluntarily checked herself into a rehab facility.
“Maybe that’s what’ll make THIS TIME different. This being what YOU WANTED AND NO ONE ELSE,” Keyshia wrote in a since-deleted post. “I’m trying to be hopeful and optimistic.”
Per TMZ, Keyshia was given up for adoption at a young age by Frankie and her biological father, Virgil Hunter. Keyshia was raised by family friends and reunited with Frankie as an adult.
