Too Short Apologizes for Mixed-Race Comments During Past Interview with Saweetie

Too Short is backtracking on controversial comments he made during a past interview with Saweetie.
On Wednesday, the “Blow the Whistle” rapper issued an apology to TMZ after a video resurfaced of him telling Saweetie last year that he prefers mixed-race women.
“I would like to apologize to anybody that’s offended by my words. I am from the Bay Area… and the whole racial thing to me has never been a factor in my circles. It hasn’t been like… because you’re one race and somebody else is another, we don’t like you just because you’re that race [or] we don’t like you because you look like that or you speak like that,” the MC said.
He continued, “In the Bay, there are a lot of mixed cultures and mixed people. It was like that before I got there. I’m not really into the whole hatred of, ‘I hate you because you’re light’ or ‘You’re the best because you’re dark.’ I love my Blackness, I love my family — on my mother’s side and my father’s side. We have every complexion, light, curly, dark, everything.”
This month, fans uncovered an interview that Too Short did with Saweetie in which he said, “Mixed heritage women have always been my favorite. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with a woman that wasn’t mixed.”
He went on to say, “I feel that way about life, too. You can take the two ugliest ------------- from different races and they ---- and make a baby, and that baby just be beautiful!”

Though some social media users slammed Saweetie because they thought she agreed with Too Short’s comments, Saweetie posted the full video last week that shows her defending Black women.
“I heard your little comment about when people come together, they make a beautiful baby, but Black women is beautiful period, on their own, with their own blood, you feel me?” she told Too Short in the same interview.

Saweetie also posted a past Q&A in which a fan asked her if she thought that dark-skinned women could be pretty.
In response, Saweetie said she took offense to the question, saying, “I was raised by dark skin women, so I find this question insulting.”
This shouldn’t even be a conversation but thank you for having my back baby. I’m going back to my shoot ✌🏽 Y’all have a Jesus blessed day. https://t.co/Acc6NasxAZ
