Dionne Warwick Hilariously Questions the Spelling of Saweetie’s Name!

Dionne Warwick’s Twitter fingers are back at it!
On Tuesday, the legendary singer set the Internet ablaze when she asked why rapper Saweetie’s name is spelled the way it is, and not “sweetie.”
Why is that young lady’s name spelled “Saweetie” and not “Sweetie”?

“This new generation is so creative and fun. ‘Saweetie’ is fun to say!” the iconic musician added.
When one fan noted that Saweetie’s stage name comes from a nickname that her grandmother gave her as a child, Auntie Dionne wrote back, “Wonderful.”
“Thank you all for answering my question about @Saweetie. I do like the name. I was just curious about the spelling,” Warwick added to her followers.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Dionne has questioned the stage names of popular musicians.
Back in December 2020, she brought up the repetition in Chance the Rapper’s moniker.
“Hi, @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this,” she wrote, adding, “I am now Dionne the Singer.”
Then, Dionne questioned The Weeknd and why his name isn’t spelled “weekend.”
“The Weeknd is next. Why? It’s not even spelled correctly? @theweeknd.”
Fortunately, both Chance and The Weeknd were honored to be roasted by such a legend!
Sorry I’m still freaking out that u know who I am. This is amazing!

In a June interview with People, Dionne discussed her social media fame, telling the magazine, “I think people are enjoying my honesty. I lay it right out for you. I don’t edit."
She also said she has spoken to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who is a fan of her headline-making tweets.
“I have kind of changed the tone of this thing called Twitter. Jack let me know he’s so pleased that I made my presence known because I’ve put a new spin on how these youngsters interact with each other,” she said. “He said, ‘I should put you on staff,’ and I said, ‘Well, let’s talk about some kind of compensation here.’”
