Family of Wounded 6-Year-Old Michigan Boy Sues Over Alleged Shooting

The family of the six-year-old boy who was allegedly shot by an adult neighbor in Michigan has filed a $4 million lawsuit.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ on Thursday, Arnold Daniel — the father of Coby Daniel, the boy who was allegedly shot by Ryan Le-Nguyen as the child was getting his bike from Le-Nguyen’s Ypsilanti Township front yard — says his son is still recovering and in shock from the incident, and is anticipating bills for medical and psychiatric needs.
Arnold says Le-Nguyen and fellow neighbor Michael Inhmathong should be liable for the damage because they knew children in the neighborhood played near their yard. However, it is unclear what role Inhmathong played in the event.
Arnold also claims that Le-Nguyen has exhibited “aggressive behavior” toward the kids numerous times in the past.
Back in June, Le-Nguyen alleged fired a shot from his front window that struck Coby in the arm.
Prior to this, Arnold and Coby told FOX 2 that Le-Nguyen allegedly first came out with a sledgehammer.
“He tried hitting me with a sledgehammer, but that’s not going to work because I’m too fast. (Then he) got a gun and BOOM shot me right here,” Coby told the outlet.
After Coby was wounded, the young boy was rushed to the hospital.
Though Le-Nguyen was initially released from custody after posting $10,000 bond, his bond was increased to $100,000 after prosecutors filed an emergency motion — with a new judge concluding that additional facts were not included in the original arraignment.
In August, Fox 2 reported that Le-Nguyen faced three added counts of felony firearm in connection with the alleged incident, in addition to his previous charges: assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, discharging a firearm in or at a building, and discharging a firearm in or at a building causing injury.
The news channel also said Le-Nguyen was “bound over for trial.”
Previously, prosecutors said Le-Nguyen admitted to shooting his gun out of the window. However, Le-Nguyen’s defense attorney previously said his client did not aim at a particular person.
