Rapper Slim 400 Shot and Killed in Los Angeles

Slim 400, an up-and-coming rapper in the Los Angeles hip-hop scene, has died after a fatal shooting.
On Thursday, law enforcement sources told TMZ that the musician was shot and killed Wednesday night in Inglewood. While TMZ says he was 33, Inglewood Police Captain Mark Fried said via NBC News that he was 34.
Per CBSLA, Inglewood police Lt. Neil Cochran told reporters that officers on patrol heard gunshots and responded to find a man on the ground with gunshot wounds.
The L.A. County Fire Department told CBSLA that the victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and was then rushed to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
In an update from TMZ, police say Slim's murder does not appear to be a targeted hit and was more a case of "wrong place, wrong time” with regard to alleged gang wars in the area.
As of this writing, no arrests have been made and a motive is unclear.
CBSLA reports that investigators were searching the area for security video and witnesses.
Born to military parents in Germany, Slim later moved to Los Angeles and was raised in Compton.
The rapper was then discovered and signed by the now-defunct Pu$haz Ink music label — made popular by fellow musicians YG and DJ Mustard.
In the summer of 2019, Slim was shot at least eight times following an incident in Compton where he was allegedly ambushed while visiting family. Slim survived after undergoing surgery.
Per The Los Angeles Times, he had a daughter named Parris, who was pictured on his Instagram account.
In 2013, Slim 400 released his debut single, “Turn Up,” featuring YG and Kidoe. Last August, he released his last album, “Ice Wata Army.”
Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones for their loss.
