Beyoncé Scores 1st Oscar Nomination!

Beyoncé is officially an Oscar nominee!
On Tuesday morning, the “Crazy in Love” singer picked up her first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for “Be Alive,” a song she wrote with songwriter Dixson for “King Richard” — a biopic about the father of Venus and Serena Williams.
The ballad — which plays during the film’s end credits — features inspirational lyrics that recount the Williams sisters’ journey to tennis superstardom.
Back in October, “King Richard” star Will Smith — who also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor — dished to Entertainment Weekly about Bey’s moving song.
“The marriage of a movie and a song is a kind of magic that’s unmatched in entertainment. I was so happy when Beyoncé called,” Smith said.
Of course, Queen Bey is no stranger to the award circuit.
At the 2021 Grammys last year, she became the Grammys’ most-decorated female artist with 28 wins after she picked up multiple awards that night — Best R&B Performance for her song “Black Parade,” as well as Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, “Savage (Remix).”
Bey also took home the Best Music Video Grammy for her song “Brown Skin Girl” — alongside Saint Jhn, Wizkid, and eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter. In fact, Blue became the second-youngest artist to win a Grammy, behind Leah Peasall — who, at just 8 years old, won a 2001 Best Album of the Year Grammy for her work on the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack.
While accepting the award for Best R&B Performance, Beyoncé said she was “honored” and “so excited.”
“Thank you, guys. As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times,” she said onstage. “I wanted to uplift and encourage all of the Black kings and queens who inspire me and inspire the whole world... I can’t believe this happened. It’s such a magical night.”
Bey also congratulated her eldest for her impressive win!
“I know my daughter is watching, two daughters and my son are watching,” she said, also giving a shout-out to her twins with husband Jay-Z, Sir and Rumi. “Blue, congratulations. You won a Grammy tonight. I’m so proud. I love you so much, my rock.”
In an August 2021 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Bey confirmed that new music “is coming!”
Get ready, Beyhive!!
