Kim Kardashian Is ‘Relieved’ After Being Declared Single from Kanye West

Kim Kardashian “is in a very happy place” after a judge granted her request to end her marriage to Kanye West.
As reported by TMZ, at the couple’s bifurcation hearing this week, a judge declared the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star single, and she will no longer be known as “Kim Kardashian West.”
During the hearing — which Kim attended via videoconference while her lawyer Laura Wasser was in court — Kanye’s lawyer did not object to restoring Kim’s single status.
While two of Kanye’s conditions were rejected — that Kim would not transfer any assets she had in trust, and if Kim remarries she would waive the “marital privilege,” meaning that her new spouse would not have to testify about communications he had with her — the judge did grant his request that any right to get reimbursement of money that is supposed to be divided up will be preserved in case either one of them passes.
Though Kanye reportedly did not attend the hearing, a source told TMZ that he also wanted the divorce to be granted.
On Wednesday, a source told People that Kim is “relieved” about the hearing, as she has “considered herself single for a while.”
“She is relieved that it’s official, though. She isn’t looking back and wants everything about the divorce to be final,” the insider said, adding, “She is in a very happy place right now. It’s taken her months to get to this point. She feels good about life.”
The source added that Kim’s rumored relationship with Pete Davidson is also why she has a positive outlook on life.
“Her kids are great and she loves dating Pete,” the insider said, referencing her four kids with Kanye: daughters North, 8, and Chicago, 4, and sons Saint, 6, and Psalm, 2½. “She isn’t seeing anyone else. She is having the best time with him.”
Kim and Kanye first started dating in 2012 and tied the knot in May 2014.
In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce from Kanye after nearly seven years of marriage.
