THIS Tennis Star Is Retiring After Ranking No. 1 in the World!

After a successful career, Ashleigh Barty — the No. 1 ranked female tennis player in the world — has announced her retirement.
Tuesday on Instagram, the 25-year-old Australian athlete posted an interview with her former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua in which she reveals she will step away from the sport.
Barty’s retirement comes after achieving her “true dream” of winning the Wimbledon Championships in July 2021 and taking the top prize at the Australian Open in January.
Adding that this is the “perfect way” to end her career, Barty will now focus on “[chasing her] other dreams.”
“I know how much work it takes to bring the best out of yourself,” she said. “I’ve said it to my team multiple times — I just don’t have that in me anymore. I don’t have the physical drive, the emotional want, and everything it takes to challenge yourself at the very top of the level anymore. I am spent.”
She continued, “That, for me, is success. I’ve given absolutely everything I can to this beautiful sport of tennis. I’m so happy, and I’m so ready. I just know at the moment, in my heart, for me as a person, this is right.”
In her caption, Barty expressed gratitude to everyone who played a part in her career.
“I am so thankful for everything this sport has given me and [it leaves me] feeling proud and fulfilled,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, I’ll always be grateful for the lifelong memories that we created together.”

After defeating Danielle Collins in the Australian Open, Barty became the first Australian to win the tournament in over four decades.
In addition to her three Grand Slam titles, Barty won the 2019 French Open women’s tournament and earned a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Onwards and upwards, Ashleigh!
