Lamar Odom Wishes He ‘Had Protected My Wife’ Like Will Smith at Oscars

Lamar Odom is giving his two cents on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards — and how it relates to his former marriage to Khloé Kardashian.
Tuesday on Instagram, the former NBA player posted a picture of Will and his wife Jada Pinkett at Sunday’s Oscars — at which Will slapped Chris for making a joke about Jada’s hair.
In his message, the “Khloé & Lamar” star notes that he “[does] not condone violence” but believes Will was protecting Jada.
“I see everyone arguing the merits of this altercation, taking [sides], dragging them both to hell when it all boils down to love. He loves his wife. She was hurting, [and] it is a husband’s responsibility to protect his wife. That is what he vowed to God and her, he owes us ZERO explanation as to why he chose to hit @chrisrock,” he wrote.
While Lamar says he would not have attacked Chris if he was in Will’s position, he recognizes that Will “did what a husband is called to do.”
“Protect his wife, from anything and anyone who causes her pain,” Lamar added.
In fact, Lamar believes “had I protected my [ex-wife Khloé] versus mentally, emotionally and spiritually hurting her,” the two may still be married today.

Though Will has since publicly apologized to Chris, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Scientists has launched an investigation and may explore actions and consequences against Will.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Lamar has publicly spoken about Khloé, to whom he was married to from 2009 to 2016.
Earlier this year, while a contestant on “Celebrity Big Brother,” Lamar told co-star and roommate Todrick Hall that he had a dream about Khloé during the premiere episode.
“Do you guys still talk?” Todrick asked, to which Lamar replied, “No. I miss her so much. I wish I could take that time back.”
Prior to this, Lamar was asked by a TMZ photographer outside of the Atlanta Fish Market in Buckhead, Georgia, if he had reached out to Khloé following news that Tristan Thompson, her ex-boyfriend and the father of their daughter True, 3, had fathered a baby with Maralee Nichols while they were still together.
“I haven’t been fortunate enough to reach out to her. Too bad, but she’ll be all right. She’s a strong girl,” Lamar told the reporter.
When asked what he would say to her, Lamar said he would first give her a hug, as he hasn’t seen her in a while.
“What would I say to her? Just to be strong. Keep her faith in God and be strong for your daughter,” he said, referencing True.
Last month, we discussed allegations from Maralee, who claims that Tristan has done nothing to support their infant son. WATCH, below:
