‘Anchorman’ Actor Charged with DUI and Hit-and-Run

David Koechner, an actor famous for his roles in “Anchorman” and “The Office,” has been charged for allegedly driving intoxicated on New Year’s Eve in California.
On Friday, the Ventura County District Attorney's office told TMZ that the comedian has been charged with one count of DUI and one count of hit-and-run, both of which are misdemeanors.
Koechner is reportedly due in court in a few weeks. Each charge carries a possible penalty of up to six months in jail.
However, TMZ notes that if Koechner is a first-time offender, he will likely get probation and be required to attend an alcohol education course.
In January, TMZ reported that Koechner was pulled over by cops around 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve in Simi Valley, California, after authorities received a call about an erratic driver.
Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Koechner was given field sobriety tests, with which he reportedly struggled. He was ultimately booked for alleged drunk driving and hitting a street sign with his car.
In an update, insiders say Koechner blew out two tires before he was pulled over. He also reportedly blew a .13 BAC at the scene and then a .12 once back at the station.
After being arrested that day, he was released early the next morning, on New Year’s Day.
Days after the incident, Koechner was photographed pumping gas into a vehicle with a noticeable dent. However, it is not clear if this was the same car that Koechner allegedly struck a street sign with.
