Arrest Made in Murder of LaKevia Jackson, Mother of Young Thug’s Child

A man has been arrested in connection to the murder of LaKevia Jackson, 31, who shares a teenage son with Young Thug.
As reported by Fox 5 on Thursday, 25-year-old Joshua Fleetwood was arrested by the Atlanta Police Department after they secured warrants charging him with felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for the March 17 incident at a bowling alley in Georgia.
Per outlets including TMZ, Fleetwood was booked into Fulton County Jail.
Officials say Fleetwood is a felon who was previously convicted of narcotics-related crimes, fraud, criminal trespassing, and eluding police.
"We are happy that Mr. Fleetwood is in our custody," Homicide Commander Ralph Woolfolk said in a statement.
Per Fox 5 in March, LaKevia was at the Metro Fun Center in a shopping center located on the 1900 block of Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta.
Her mother Sherina Jackson told the outlet at the time, "She was celebrating a birthday at the bowling alley with a very close family friend.”
However, Jackson said LaKevia and her group got into an argument with a man on a date who was reportedly taking over their space.
The outlet says around 11:30 p.m., the groups engaged in an argument over a bowling ball.
Then, the alleged shooter reportedly left the bowling alley and waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes for Jackson to come out.
Fox 5 says at some point, a shootout occurred and bullets fired from a car leaving the scene hit LaKevia.
Calling the incident "truly an atrocity," Woolfolk said at the time, "A young lady has lost her life tonight as a result of an argument over a bowling ball.”
LaKevia leaves behind 14-year-old son Kyvion, whom she shared with Young Thug.
Family described her to Fox 5 as being kind-hearted and loving.
"Senseless, it could have been avoided. Like I said, the homicide detective said it best, conflict resolution, people don't know how to resolve a conflict and they want to pick guns up to resolve a conflict," stepfather Andre Shoates told the outlet last month.
"If he would do something heartless and cowardly to a woman, he would do it to anybody. He is the type of person that needs to be off the street," he added.
Our condolences go out to LaKevia’s family and loved ones for their loss.
