Obamas, Bidens & More Celebrate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court Confirmation

Politicians, celebrities, and other public figures are celebrating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s historic confirmation to the Supreme Court.
On Thursday, the U.S. Senate voted 53-47 to confirm Judge Jackson to America’s highest court — making her the first Black woman nominated for and confirmed to SCOTUS.
In addition to all 50 Democratic senators, three Republican senators — Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Mitt Romney of Utah — voted in favor of the judge.
During the vote, Vice President Kamala Harris — the first female, Black, and Asian vice president in U.S. history — presided over the proceedings, and after the votes were tallied, she proudly declared, “This nomination is confirmed.”
Judge Jackson will take the oath of office this summer.
Following the emotional moment, President Joe Biden — who nominated Judge Jackson in late February — applauded the vote, calling it “a historic moment for our nation.”
