Fans Rip Chris Brown for Seemingly Congratulating Ex Rihanna on Giving Birth

Rihanna appeared to receive an unlikely congratulatory note following the birth of her and boyfriend A$AP Rocky’s first child.
On Thursday, sources told TMZ that the “Work” singer reportedly gave birth to a baby boy on May 13 in Los Angeles.
That same day, Rihanna’s ex-boyfriend Chris Brown posted an Instagram Story that read, “Congratulations,” along with a prayer, heart, and pregnant woman emoji.
After his post went viral, an overwhelming number of fans believed he was reaching out to Rihanna — whom he was accused of attacking in February 2009 to the point of hospitalization.
Chris later pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge and accepted a plea deal that included community labor, 5-years probation, and domestic violence counseling. A 5-year restraining order was also put in place.
Needless to say, some fans did not appreciate Chris’ supposed gesture.
"Chris Brown has absolutely no business congratulating our Queen Riri on her baby’s birth,” a Twitter user wrote.
"Chris Brown subliminally telling Rihanna congratulations on IG is top tier toxicity,” a commenter said.
"The problem with Chris Brown ‘congratulating’ Rih is that he’s NEVER shown that energy with his own children’s mothers,” another alleged.
However, some fans defended Chris and believed he had every right to publish his post.
"I saw nothing wrong with Chris Brown congratulating Rihanna … she forgave him and he probably will never forgive himself for that day, but he is maturing and he moved on from being in love with her. May he never forget the times he had with her tho,” a social media user wrote.
"I don’t understand how Chris brown congratulating Rihanna is a problem for some people,” another added.
Following the 2009 incident, Rihanna gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey in 2012 where she said the two were working on their friendship.
TMZ also says the two reportedly briefly got back together from 2012 to 2013.
Also in 2012, the two collaborated on the song, “Nobody’s Business,” off of Rihanna’s seventh studio album, “Unapologetic.”
