Alec Baldwin Weighs In on Newark Airport Fight

Alec Baldwin, who has denied responsibility in the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” is chiming in on the viral fight at Newark Liberty International Airport last week.
On Tuesday, The Shade Room reported that the “30 Rock” actor wrote an Instagram comment about the May 19 fight between former NFL player Brendan Langley and a United Airlines employee.
“The guy working at the airport is the victim. He came to work to do a job,” Baldwin wrote.
“The other guy, with his big mouth, is guilty of workplace abuse, where people come to work with an expectation of safety, even civility. This ------- who hit this guy should be put on a no fly list.”
Though social media users have debated on who started the fight, The Daily Mail reported that the altercation may have begun when Langley allegedly used a wheelchair to transport his luggage, instead of paying $5 for a luggage cart.
Since the incident, Langley was arrested and charged with simple assault, and the United staffer has been fired.
While Internet users continue to pick sides in the fight, many believe Baldwin should not speak about workplace safety given how Hutchins died on a movie he produced.
Last October, both Hutchins and director Joel Souza were shot after a prop firearm was discharged.
Hutchins was transported via helicopter to University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Souza was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and was later released.
Though there were reports that Baldwin discharged the firearm, he claimed in a December interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he “didn’t pull the trigger.”
“I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them. Never,” Baldwin said.
When asked how a real bullet got on the “Rust” set, Baldwin answered, “I have no idea. Someone put a live bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.”
As of this writing, the district attorney is still conducting a criminal investigation and no one involved in the movie has been cleared.
In February, Hutchins’ family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against several people from production, including Baldwin, asking for unspecified damages, including punitive damages.
