Amber Heard Can ‘Absolutely Not’ Pay Johnny Depp $10.35M, Her Attorney Says

Amber Heard does not have the funds to pay ex-husband Johnny Depp $10.35 million following their trial verdict, says her attorney.
On Thursday, a day after both actors won defamation lawsuits against each other, Amber’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft gave an interview to “Today” host Savannah Guthrie.
This week, Johnny won all three defamation claims against Amber regarding her 2018 op-ed for the Washington Post about domestic abuse allegations. While Johnny was awarded $15 million in damages, Amber will only have to pay $10.35 million due to a Virginia law capping punitive damages.
On the other hand, Amber won her countersuit and was awarded $2 million in damages over Johnny’s lawyer’s allegation that Amber and her friends concocted a story for the cops under the direction of her lawyer and publicist.
With regard to Amber’s owed amount, a net result of $8.35 million, Bredehoft said her client does not have the means to pay.
“Oh, no, absolutely not,” the lawyer said when asked.
During the sit-down, Bredehoft believes Amber was “demonized” during the trial and that internet favor was “absolutely” in Johnny’s corner.
“And it was horrible — it really, really was lopsided,” the attorney continued. “It was like the Roman Colosseum, how they viewed this whole case.”

Following the verdict, Amber released a statement expressing her “disappointment.”
“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and sway of my ex-husband,” she wrote. “I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback.”
Depp also released a message on social media, saying he believes the “best is yet to come” for him.
“Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye,” he said.
“False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career. And six years later, the jury gave me my life back.”
Johnny and Amber tied the knot in 2015 and got divorced two years later.
